Good product for the cost. We've had the Pyle vacuum now for about a year. It operates solely on hard surface with no transitions and does an excellent job of picking up cat hair, cat litter and tracked in debris including grass, leaves and dirt. It has been very reliable with only one "problem" incident where, due to debris buildup, it started operating in circles. Fortunately, we also have an ILIFE A4 and therefore, knew how to remove the cover to clean inside the vacuum. For it's price, it's been a great vacuum. When compared to our ILIFE A4, we have noted the following:Battery life - much shorter. Pyle will vacuum between 500 and 800 square feet on one operation while the ILIFE will generally manage 1,500.Noise - much louder. We seldom hear the the ILIFE which runs upstairs, but we can clearly hear the Pyle from upstairs while it is operating on the lower level.Transitions/entrapment - Pyle hates transitions between hardwood and carpet and will expend most of its battery life trying to get over the transition. If you are fast enough, you can rescue the vacuum before it uses its battery life, but if not, its finished for a few hours.Reliability - Pyle has had fewer cleaning needs and less downtime than the ILIFE. In the past year, we've only had one situation where the Pyle was "down" while the ILIFE was down within weeks of purchase and needs a serious cleaning every couple of months. This may be do to to Pyle's simpler construction or to the fact that we use it less.Customer Service - we've not had a chance to try it. The ILIFE had issues first, and we used the same techniques to "fix" Pyle in the one incident where it did not operate.Features: Pyle has less features than the ILIFE - no remote, no stair sensing, no docking station - but we expected that for the price, and those features are not essential for a reliable operation. When compared to the 2005-2008 Roomba we have previously owned, Pyle is just a thorough and much more reliable. Roomba never lasted a full year.Update: After 14 months of use, the Pyle vacuum is no longer functional. It is turns and spins but will not advance. This time a thorough cleaning did not fix the problem. We have not tried contacting customer service as the product is no longer covered by warranty.Remember the iRobot Dirt Dog? This is very similar; despite the name, it doesn't actually produce a vacuum. Instead, it cleans with spinning brushes, which is perfect for things like garage floors. I've set it free in serious trouble spots (like the crawl space under the stairs, which had never been touched before) and it handled them perfectly. The battery life so far has been excellent (at least two hours per charge), and its pathfinding is also very good. It handles multiple obstacles (like chairs under a table) well, which is important for battery life. It uses IR for obstacle detection, rather than banging into things like some cheaper models.I noticed some people have had charging issues. I have run it at least once a day on a full ('max') cleaning cycle since it arrived about a month ago, and the run time has always been at least two hours. This was out in the garage, which is usually below 60F, which may help with battery life somewhat. The only issues I can think of, all minor, are the lack of spare parts on Amazon (hopefully this will improve as more people order them) and the fact it doesn't have a docking station. It would also be nice if they tweaked the design of the dust bin's latch; it tends to stick in the unlatched position due to dirt buildup, which can result in you dumping the whole mess out when you try picking it up (Liquid Wrench penetrating oil fixed it, for now, but it's just a band-aid.). Again, trivial issues in a very well engineered product. All in all, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better robot cleaner for under $100.Within six months of being at my home I set this item to work for maybe 10 hours total. After that it completely died. The first call to customer service took about 20 min. to get through. Agent Ray told me that I have to do all usual troubleshooting gymnastics: clean the bunker, clean the brush, etc. - which I obviously have done before calling. Anyway, he wanted me to do everything again under his supervision. I did, with the same result. Finally, Ray agreed that the item has to be sent back for warranty repairs. Small caveat: I have to pay for both, forward and return, S&H. I said that decent companies should not force their customers bear any costs for products failing during the warranty period. Ray was unrepentant: this is the company policy, nothing to discuss. I asked him to e-mail me all needed documents while in meantime I'll check with my friendly local PackMail shop the shipment rates from FL to NY. "It shouldn't be expensive" said he.The fact that I had to pay for S&H of their faulty product made me very unhappy but what I saw in e-mailed documents made me outright furious. They requested my Credit Card number with signed authorization to charge it UNCONTROLLABLY for return shipment charges. Return e-mail to Ray with my indignation and offer to pay locally for return shipment in advance and enclose return label with the forward shipment instead of giving away my CC number went unanswered for a week. I had to drop next call to this "customer service" after ONE HOUR AND 40 MINUTES on hold!!! The third call which took about 50 min. of waiting and bickering with Louis led only to his willy-nilly consent to ask his manager for authorization for my advance payment for return shipment at the time of paying for forward one. Finally few hours later I did get a message from someone Glenn with condescending permission to pay for everything at my end and not to give them my CC#. But while they were contemplating such a "revolutionary" decision, I did run to my local mail shop and found that the cheapest way to send the item of this size and dimensions is TWENTY SEVEN DOLLARS - one way. Obviously, I have no desire to pay 54 bucks for getting back my cleaned and dusted piece of junk which I was stupid enough to buy from them for $80, which can brake down again the next day, which will cause me to kneel again to this fraudulent company - Sound Around USA.Buy NOTHING from them!
